What is Kiss Your Phobias Goodbye based on?
Since 2013, I have worked with more than 5000 individuals on the personal and professional levels, and from these 5000, I have helped more than 450 individuals process and let go of unreasonable and unnecessary fears and phobias.
I was able to do that using the methodologies and approaches of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Time Line Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Integral Eye Movement Therapy, Provocative Changeworks, and Metaphors of Movement.
To learn each approach on its own would need more than hundreds of hours, as each has its own intricacies, jargon, and techniques, but for the purpose of making your life easier when working with clients who have fears and phobias, I have put together a program that combines what works from each of the above-mentioned approaches.
What will you learn?
The course starts with the basics, which is understanding different models of the world and how to communicate with clients in a way that allows you as a therapist and coach to understand how they are creating and maintaining their problems. People cannot create any form of emotional response without having a certain internal structure to what they are responding to on the outside.
By understanding how we as humans filter information, and create our internal representations, we start to create a picture of what is going on in our clients’ minds. That requires, effective communication and listening skills, building rapport quickly and efficiently, learning when not to create rapport, but rather dis-rapport to connect directly with the client’s emotional brain, and how to use the clients’ eye movements to spot what is going in their mind in order to create effective and lifelong change.
After that, we move to what is called the “Milton Model”, which is the model based on the work of the father of hypnotherapy, Milton H Erickson. Erickson was a therapist who had a way to communicate with his clients that helped them change as few others could, and when NLP co-creators Richard Bandler and John Grinder went to visit him in Arizona to model him, he had helped thousands of people during the 1900s.
What Bandler and Grinder did was to observe the way he used to speak with his clients, and uncovered from that a group of linguistic patterns that connected directly with the client’s unconscious mind allowing them to bypass what is sometimes called resistance.
As Milton is famous to have said, that there are no resistant clients, but rather practitioners who lack the flexibility to communicate differently with different people. After learning this model, you will be able to bypass the conscious resistances that some clients might present, and help them connect with their unconscious resources, through the use of metaphors, and conversational hypnosis.
From there we move to another Model, that was based on the work of another brilliant Family therapist by the name of Virginia Satir. Satir’s work was the basis of Bandler and Grinder’s first two books, The Structure of Magic Volumes One and Two, where they talked about what they called the Meta-Model.
The Meta Model is a model that was based on how Satir used to ask questions that uncovered what they called the deep structure of the client’s thought processes. The work of Satir is the complete opposite of Erickson’s work, where Satir uncovered the details of what was going on, while Erickson allowed clients to see the bigger, more expansive picture of what they were going through.
What makes both of these models very useful is that they complement each other and can be used interchangeably with the same or different clients. Using the Meta-Model effectively allows you as a therapist or coach to uncover what is really going on in the client’s mind.
The next modules involve the change work techniques that will allow you to create quick, swift, and effective change.
We start with learning about Submodalities, which are the distinctions of our Modalities, sensory inputs (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Olfactory, Gustatory, and Auditory Digital), and by learning these distinctions, you will start spotting how some internal representations can be troublesome and bothersome.
The submodalities were discovered by Bandler, and then Steve and Connirae Andreas elaborated on them more in their books and training workshops.
Following that, we move to what is called Dissociative Techniques, which includes but is not limited to the Fast Phobia Model, which can be done without even speaking a single word with the client if the trigger was properly identified and it was an actual phobia rather than another set of feelings. Then we go into the auditory aspect of problems, by exploring how our internal voice can be the source of creating and maintaining a certain fear or phobias, and how to deal with it.
After that, we move to the Kinesthetic aspect of emotions, and we will explore emotional change techniques that are based on the location and intensity of specific emotions that are experienced by the clients.
The next module will be about the use of eye movement approaches to help clients deal with memory-based events that create a chronic negative impact on the client’s life, and this will be based on the brilliant work of Andrew Austin and Integral Eye Movement therapy. Here we will use the basic IEMT pattern to also create quick and effective change.
The last part of the training will be based on the use of Time Line Therapy techniques, which are based on the work of Tad James, to help create a better future for the client, and process emotions related to future-based fears and phobias of specific upcoming events or triggers. In addition to that, you will learn how to use future pacing to help clients test if what they had been experiencing actually changed or not.
